My Dearest Porter

My Dearest Porter,

Your world is about to be rocked. That's all I keep thinking about as we are impatiently awaiting the arrival of your little brother. Sometimes I just watch you playing with your little blocks or kicking the ball, and I think about how everything you've grown to be so comfortable with over the past 22 months is all about to change.

And by the way, you also managed to break your arm falling off your little bike inside the house. And we sold our house and will be living with EE for the next six months.

So really. Your world is about to be rocked. And yet somehow you manage to smile and laugh through all of it, which reassures us as your parents that everything really will be just fine.

Your Dad and I look at each other at the end of each day and begin to talk about all the cute things you did that day and how much you impress us and how proud we are of you and how amazed we are by your little personality. We know you're going to be a great big brother!

Mom 32 weeks pregnant with Ty.
Right now, you have mixed feelings about your Mom's growing belly. A lot of times you like to kiss it and go "baby." But other times you yell "ball, ball" and reach under my shirt to try to get the "ball." And we can get you to say "baby Ty" every now and then, and you know the sign for baby.

You are a very good listener and very observant. It's not hard to teach you things because you are very interested in learning. It makes us very proud.

You enjoy spending your mornings with Daddy before he takes you to the sitter. And he says most mornings you would rather watch golf than cartoons and you say "goooood shot." When Mommy picks you up in the afternoon you are always in a good mood. And we either run errands or go home to play. Lately we've been playing a lot inside because when you get out of the car you say "it's hot side" or "I water the plants."

We really can't believe how smart you are and how much you have grown just in the last couple of months. We love you so much and just hope that that love will multiply when Ty gets here. We hope that somehow our parenting skills will multiply as well. We don't ever want you to feel like we love you any less because if anything we love you so much more for taking everything in stride and accepting this new role as big brother.

Love always,
Mom and Dad
