Happy Thanksgiving Y'all!

Phew! We had one heck of a Thanksgiving vacation this year!
It all started with cousin Morgan's wedding
in Jackson the Saturday before Thanksgiving.
It was a beautiful celebration with so many little ones.

Seated: Mae, Taylor, Porter, Ava, Lauryn, Ty, Amelia, Jasper, Dylan and Harrison.
Standing: James Sawyer, Thomas, unknown, Castlin
We stayed most of the week at Aunt Amber's new place in Jackson.
She moved there back in September.

It was beautiful weather most of the week,
and we definitely took advantage of it.
Daddy went hunting Monday-Tuesday,
while Mommy took the boys to the Museum of Natural Science and the Zoo.

Porter and Ty are starting to really interact with one another.
Even though most of the time it results in kicking and screaming.
But we're working on that.

Porter has been saying the phrase,
"No, no Ty that's not how we do it. Here let me show you."
And Ty is a sweet boy who really looks up to his brother and listens.
And then it results in more kicking and screaming ;)

When daddy came back, we went to the Children's Museum,
which was so much fun and there was so much to see and do.

We ate Thanksgiving lunch at the Old Capitol Inn.
It was a beautiful feast and very enjoyable.

The day after Thanksgiving we drove up to Oxford to attend the Egg Bowl.
When we stopped for gas and a potty break,
Porter insisted on getting a sucker and of course Ty did too.
So all of us could enjoy the drive up there I obliged.
This was the result...

Ty was particularly miserable pretty much the whole trip with his non-sleep schedule.
That boy wakes up at the drop of a pin so sleeping in the same room together was not ideal.
On Saturday morning he was particularly ornery so we all got dressed at 6 a.m.
and headed to IHOP so he wouldn't wake up the rest of the house.
In our mad rush to get out of the house, we forgot to restock the diaper bag.
And he did poop...right in the middle of our delicious breakfast.
We were very lucky to have another family with a baby sitting in the booth next to us
who were more than gracious in helping us out with our stinky situation.

That afternoon we headed to the Egg Bowl!

It was so fun for me and Baxter to bring the boys to such a time-honored tradition
that we have followed for many years as we rooted for our Bulldogs.
We were very nervous about how the kids would act given the lack of naps and the cold.
But they shocked all of us!
Ty sat there in awe of all the action and Porter slept in our laps through half of it.
We were able to stay for the whole thing!
And the Bulldogs pulled out a win 55-20! Go Dawgs!

We drove home the next day,
and stopped to attend church in Madison and visit some with Aunt Angela.
It was a great trip. One that we will remember for a long time.

I love traveling with my boys!

Documenting Fall

In early September, we went to Boston's birthday party at the skating rink.
Porter was so excited to skate! He coudln't wait to get skates on.
As I was lacing them up I wanted to prepare him.
I started explaining that he might fall but it's okay because
mommy will be with him and he can get right back up and try it again.
Right at that moment, a kid next to us fell down and I pointed it out and said,
"See you can fall but look he's getting right back up."
Immediately you started whaling and screaming, "I don't want to skate!"
Your aunts Catherine and Lauren rushed over to offer support.
Aunt Cat was saying, "That's okay you don't have to skate."
But mommy explained, "No, you are going to try it. You are going to go around at least one time.
If you don't like it after that FINE. Then you wont' have to skate anymore."
I held one hand and your Aunt Lauren held the other while you had tears streaming down your face.
But you were very brave and you tried it...
And one time around is all you did. Ha!
But I was so proud of you.

Sundays are crazy to get through with Baby Ty.
He usually takes a morning nap,
but Ty has not slept in our homes since he was about 4 months old.
So church is an issue! There's lots of whining and grumpiness while we try to distract,
but we end up distracting ourselves from our classes.
He almost always passes out on the way home,
and this is what it looks like bringing him up to his room for a nap.
Poor Baby Ty.

Baby Ty (about 16 months) with Daddy
We celebrated Grandad's birthday at Aunt Maureen's.
We took a walk around the neighborhood with almost all the cousins
and got absolutely attacked by mosquitoes.
Then we had cake and ice cream with the birthday boy!

Ty refuses to let us feed him anymore
and this is the result...

On Columbus Day, Uncle Tommy broke in his new sunfish
and we all went to the beach to watch.
It was a little chilly but that did not deter these two.
We had a time trying to get them out of the water.

Ty attends an in-home daycare at Ms. Amanda's three days a week.
They have goats, ponies, horses, chickens, rabbits, cows and more!
And he absolutely loves it!
And she loves him, which is awesome.
She told me her five-year-old said to her, "Mommy, Baby Ty is so cute." And she said, "I know he is." And her little girl said, "When I have a baby I hope he looks just like him!"
Melt my heart!

Bedtime routine in our home is crazy and exhausting
yet precise and unwavering.
At the end of each day, I'm totally exhausted.
It takes everything I have to scrape myself off the floor,
get the kids bathed, dressed, scriptures read, prayers said and into bed.
And for some reason, I have been blessed with three boys
who get their second wind every night around 7 p.m.
So our bedtime routine consists of Porter running around naked,
doing a dance and singing "nakey butt;"
Daddy playing boo and horsey;
Ty chasing his brother between rooms;
airplane rides during scripture reading;
and pleading five, six, seven, eight times to get ready for prayer.
I'm exhausted just writing about it.
